My name is Penny Carter King, and I am a parent, an Orange County native, and a long-time volunteer in our schools. Now, I'm running for Orange County School Board.
Why?
Because I believe that the Orange County Board of Education should be focused on:

Ensuring a safe school environment

Providing an excellent education for our students
-
Communicating openly with parents and the community
​ In the last few years, the board's majority attention has been focused on furthering political agendas rather than on the business of running a successful school system. Currently, our students' achievement scores are below average at every grade level, teacher and staff morale are at an all-time low, we have critical teacher vacancies at multiple schools, and our parents feel they aren't being heard or respected.

The great school system I grew up in has been lost. We must restore it for the sake of our children. We need to vote for our children - and that means voting for a change in our school board.
